Next Steps

In the coming weeks and months, you must complete some key steps to accept our offer of admission and begin courses in the fall. You will also be invited to events, such as our fall orientationor as we Wildcats call it, Wildcat Welcome.

Use these pages to keep track of these key dates and deadlines. 

Review financial aid, if applicable

As soon as possible

Financial aid information will generally be available with your admission decision, provided that your file is complete. Read how to access your award letter.

Decision and deposit deadline

May 3 (for regular decision)

You can formally confirm your enrollment by making your tuition and housing deposits. Read how to make your deposits.

*Transfer and Waitlist students, please see Confirm Your Enrollment Plans for respective deadlines.

Enrollment reply form

May 3

Regular Decision students: take the time that you and your family need to make your college decision. And once you're ready, submit our online reply form, whether or not you intend to enroll.

*Transfer and Waitlist students do not need to complete this form.

Complete online housing contract

June 1 (for regular decision)

Once you’ve submitted your tuition and housing deposits, you may access the online housing contract, where you can specify housing and room/roommate preferences.

*Transfer and Waitlist students should complete the contract as soon as possible after receiving their decisions.

Confirm receipt of test scores

June 1 (for regular decision)

If you included self-reported SAT or ACT scores as part of your application, you will need to submit official scores to match your highest self-reported section/composite scores by June 1. Your official standardized test scores are required in order for you to attend orientation, move into your residence hall, and register for classes. You can check to see which standardized test scores we have received via the Applicant Status Portal.

*Transfer and Waitlist students should confirm receipt of test scores as soon as possible after receiving their decisions.

Submit health records

July 1

Northwestern needs to receive your health records by July 1. 

Peer advising


Receive communications about your peer adviser group.

Submit final transcript

August 1 (for first year applicants)

You cannot attend Wildcat Welcome or register for classes until your final high school transcript has been received. Your official final high school transcript should be submitted as soon as it becomes available, but no later than August 1. Read instructions for submitting it, and other necessary documents.

International Student Orientation


International students are required to attend Undergraduate International Student Orientation (ISO). ISO is a two-night/three-day program specifically designed for new or transferring undergraduate international students, exchange students, and U.S. citizens who grew up overseas.

Wildcat Welcome


Northwestern's orientation for all new students is a required weeklong event. During Wildcat Welcome, you will prepare for your college transition, meet your academic adviser and register for first-quarter courses and more. Read more about Wildcat Welcome.
