For Parents and Families
Congratulations on your child's admission into Northwestern! It is an accomplishment that speaks to years of hard work. Like you, Northwestern is invested in your child's ongoing academic success. We know your child can thrive in our community, and we consider you an important partner in that effort.
Answers to Your Questions
As your family makes this important decision, Undergraduate Admissions is happy to serve as a resource. Find answers to many questions in our Frequently Asked Questions webpage. You can also email or call us at (847) 491-7271 during normal business hours.
Upcoming Deadlines and Events
Your child can keep track of next steps in the After Enrollment section of the website, which lists deadlines for confirming his or her enrollment. The dates of upcoming events, such as first-year orientation (or Wildcat Welcome, as we call it) are also listed.
You will soon have the opportunity to attend events with both you and your son or daughter in mind. Northwestern's Office of Student Transition Experiences coordinates orientation opportunities for new students, while the area of Family Engagement provides communication and programming for family members.
Parent and Family Orientation
Parent and Family Orientation (PFO) is held the first two days of Wildcat Welcome and is designed to introduce you to the people and resources available to help support you and your student during their time at Northwestern. The 2025 schedule will be posted online by early summer and registration opens in July. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email family@northwestern.edu or call (847) 467-2751.
Family Weekend
We look forward to inviting you back to Evanston for Family Weekend! The program will take place in October or early November and dates will be announced this spring. The 2025 schedule will be posted online this summer. If you have any questions, please email family@northwestern.edu or call (847) 467-2751.
